AI: Airtel Africa and Xtelify Team Up to Innovate for Millions

Airtel Africa has announced a multi-year, multi-million dollar partnership with Xtelify, a digital technology arm of Bharti Airtel. The deal will see Xtelify deploy its cutting-edge, AI-powered software platforms across all 14 of Airtel Africa’s operational market to accelerate its digital evolution and enhance customer experience.

According to an update on xtelify website on Monday confirming the collaboration, which  is set to reshape key areas of Airtel Africa’s business, including customer engagement, field operations, and data-driven insights.

By leveraging Xtelify’s next-generation software suite, which has been successfully deployed at scale in India, Airtel Africa aims to simplify its operations, boost service quality, reduce customer churn, and increase Average Revenue Per User (ARPU).

The partnership focuses on the deployment of several key platforms:

  • Xtelify Data Engine and Xtelify Work: These platforms will be deployed to empower Airtel Africa’s 150,000-strong field personnel. By providing real-time task automation and data-driven decision tools, the platforms will enable agents to develop micro-targeted strategies and unlock critical use cases such as spam and fraud protection for customers.
  • Xtelify IQ: This platform is designed to enhance the customer journey through secure, real-time, and omnichannel engagement. It will enable the delivery of hyper-personalized experiences and improve overall customer satisfaction

According to Jacques Barkhuizen, Group Chief Information Officer at Airtel Africa, the partnership represents a “transformative leap” in the company’s mission to build Africa’s digital future. “By harnessing Airtel’s AI platforms that have proven scale in India, we are not only simplifying our operations but also accelerating hyper-personalized experiences for our customers,” Barkhuizen said.

The announcement comes as part of a broader launch of Xtelify’s new AI and cloud services, which have also secured partnerships with global players like Singtel and Globe Telecom. This highlights a strategic push by Bharti Airtel to leverage its homegrown technology and digital expertise on a global scale. The deployment of these AI platforms positions Airtel Africa to leapfrog into a future of smarter, more inclusive connectivity for millions across the continent.
