Nigeria: NELFUND Resumes Upkeep Disbursements for Students, Urges Patience.

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced the successful commencement of upkeep disbursement payments to student beneficiaries who have updated their bank account details from digital wallet platforms( Opay, Moniepoint, Kuda) to commercial bank accounts. This marks a significant step forward in resolving earlier disbursement delays that had left many students waiting for their much-needed funds.

According to a press statement from the Institutional body today, over 3,600 students who previously registered with digital-only banking platforms have now successfully received their backlog of upkeep payments after updating their details to conventional commercial bank accounts on the NELFUND portal.

Student are advised to use commercial banks for any transaction with NELFUND—student who use online banks such as: kuda, Opay, palmpay, Moniepoint; will ‘not’ be processed for payment. However, this achievement highlights the effectiveness of the updated process and NELFUND’s commitment to ensuring all eligible Nigerian students receive their support.

“We appreciate the patience and understanding of all affected students during this period. Your resilience and cooperation have made this progress possible,” a statement from NELFUND read, acknowledging the challenges faced by students awaiting their payments.

Furthermore, for students still awaiting payment, NELFUND has outlined clear steps to follow. “Students who are yet to receive their upkeep payments and are still using digital wallet accounts are advised to raise a support ticket via the official NELFUND portal to request access for updating their bank details,” the press release stated. Alternatively, students can report through the IT office of their institution, which will compile and forward all related cases to NELFUND for resolution. However, the institutional body reiterated its unwavering commitment to ensuring that no eligible student is left behind. “This resolution process is part of our broader effort to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and student-centered delivery of our support services.”
