State-owned Ethiopian Airlines signed a landmark agreement on Wednesday to purchase 10 advanced Boeing cargo planes, securing an additional purchase option for eight more freighters.
The deal encompasses a mix of current-generation 777F models and cutting-edge 777-8F variants designed to significantly expand long-haul logistics capabilities.
The major acquisition directly supports the carrier’s broader capital infrastructure strategy, including its massive 12.5 billion dollar airport mega-project slated to open its first phase by 2030.
As Africa’s largest and most profitable airline, the carrier continues leveraging strategic fleet modernizations to cement Addis Ababa as the continent’s dominant trade and transit hub.
For American manufacturer Boeing, the firm commitment provides vital production backlog stability amid ongoing industry delays affecting the next-generation widebody freighter program.
