Ghana’s Economy Grows by 6% in Q2 2026 on Strong ICT and Services Expansion

CITY OF ACCRA GHANA

Ghana’s economy expanded by 6% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, marking a slight slowdown from the 6.4% growth recorded in the preceding quarter.

Data released by the Ghana Statistical Service confirms this steady macroeconomic consolidation, keeping the country well above its long-term historical average of 5.77% recorded since 2000.

The expansion was anchored by resilient services and a double-digit surge in information and communications technology, offsetting softer performances in traditional agricultural and industrial segments.

This moderate pace follows a turbulent historical timeline that saw GDP reach a record high of 19.80% in 2011 and a low of -5.60% during the 2020 global disruption.

The Bank of Ghana maintains an optimistic outlook, projecting sustained momentum across core sectors through the second half of the fiscal year to support exchange rate stability.
