LAGOS – MTN Nigeria Communications Plc posted a 70.6% surge in profit after tax to N707.5 billion for the half-year ended June 30, 2026, driven by expanding internet connectivity usage across the country.

According to the company’s audited financial report released on Thursday, total revenue rose 25.9% year-on-year to N2.99 trillion, while the board declared an interim dividend of N26 per share.

Data services remained the primary revenue driver, jumping 38.4% to N1.70 trillion as active data subscribers reached 55.7 million. Voice revenue grew 12.0% to N993.5 billion over the six-month period.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) expanded 39.2% to N1.7 trillion, pushing the EBITDA margin to 55.9%. Total mobile subscribers climbed by 4.9 million to reach 92.2 million.

The operational recovery follows macroeconomic stabilisation in Nigeria, where a firmer naira helped generate N36.4 billion in foreign exchange gains and eliminate outstanding foreign currency loans.

MTN deployed N620.5 billion in capital expenditure for network expansion, while free cash flow surged 73.9% to N712.7 billion, reinforcing balance sheet strength.
