Nigerian utility giant Geregu Power Plc named Engr. Mohammed Sani Jaoji as its Acting Chief Executive Officer effective Aug. 17, 2026, subject to regulatory approval, according to corporate disclosures.
The board announced the appointment in an official filing with the Nigerian Exchange Limited, following the scheduled expiration of interim CEO Sean Manley’s term on Aug. 14.
The leadership change, the firm’s second in seven months, follows a July 28 default on a N6.03 billion debt obligation under its N40.09 billion bond program.
The payment miss prompted credit exchange listings to classify the debt as in default, while Agusto & Co. withdrew its credit rating over verification concerns regarding previously issued financials.
Jaoji, a mechanical engineer with three decades of power sector experience, previously served as technical assistant to Nigeria’s power minister and managed maintenance operations at Geregu from 2007 to 2019.
