Seven OPEC+ producers have approved a 188,000 barrels per day oil production quota increase for September 2026. This decision marks the fourth consecutive monthly output hike.
According to an official statement issued by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Secretariat following a virtual meeting, the decision completes the phased rollback of the 1.65 million barrels per day voluntary cuts introduced in 2023.
Participating core members: Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Algeria, Kazakhstan, and Oman; will share the allocation. Saudi Arabia and Russia will lead the adjustment, each raising output by 62,000 barrels per day.
The hike follows structural changes after the United Arab Emirates exited monthly production management agreements in May 2026, while geopolitical tensions in the Middle East continue to disrupt physical export logistics.
Energy analysts expect OPEC+ to pause further quota increases during the fourth quarter while reviewing member capacities ahead of 2027 negotiations. Meanwhile, separate 2022 baseline cuts of two million bpd remain active.
