CAF Dismisses Relocation Rumors, Backs East Africa for 2027 AFCON

Confederation of African Football President Patrice Motsepe insists Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda will successfully co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, firmly rejecting claims the tournament faces relocation.

Motsepe dismissed relocation talk during his inspection tour. “Tanzania will not be replaced, and the tournament is staying in East Africa,” he stressed to reporters.

The reassurance follows ongoing inspection tours across the region. Organizers are currently racing to upgrade stadiums, training grounds, and transport networks to meet continental standards before kickoff.

Officials are also negotiating a joint visa framework. This special cross-border arrangement aims to simplify travel for thousands of international fans moving between the three host nations.
